Exciting prospects for 2015

Published on by

2014 was a very busy year for Hospital Aids with the further expansion of our product range which we manufacture “in house”.

Our continued work alongside emergency services personnel from the Ambulance and Fire & Rescue Services enabled the development of our most recent innovation, the “EMS Bariatric EvacMat”, which was launched at the Emergency Services Show at the NEC, Birmingham on the 25-26th September. Since its launch we have seen a huge interest in EMS EvacMat in both the UK and the USA where there are currently no other similar products available in the market.

In 2014 we also…

Following the successful launch of the EMS Bariatric EvacMat, at the Emergency Service Show in September this year we are pleased to announce that it has gone ‘Live’ on our website.

We have, so far, had a fantastic response this new bariatric evacuation device with it being the star of the show at many exhibitions.

In November we took it along to Trauma 2014 conference where it received lots of interest and has resulted in many requests for onsite demonstrations across the country.

ErgoKneeler: The inventor's story

I’m frequently asked how I went about inventing and developing the ErgoKneeler™ (or EK™ as it affectionately known) and I have to say that there was no instantaneous ‘eureka moment’. As a physio and moving and handling facilitator I had been revisiting the issues around low working postures for most of my professional life and had often given thought to the possibility of creating a piece of equipment that could make life better for staff. Something that would improve spinal posture, reduce musculoskeletal stressing and most importantly, somehow reduce time spent in a static posture.

Using my knowledge as a…

Obesity and evacuation

In October 2007 the Government Office of Science and the Department of Health released a foresight report suggesting that 50 per cent of the UK population could be obese by 2050 at an annual cost to the nation of nearly £50 billion pounds. However, a recent report, conducted by the National Obesity Forum in January 2014, has warned that the UK is in danger of surpassing the 2007 predictions, following analysis of official figures and academic studies on obesity, weight management and lifestyle choices.

Increasing levels of obesity, are having a direct impact on those associated with primary care. There…

This product evolved from our original evacuation equipment range, which includes Ski Sheets, Ski Pads and Ski Slide Pads all of which have a safe working load of up to 160kg.

Bariatric rescue

The problems created by the increasing obesity of the world population has always been present but over recent years it is becoming more and more of an issue to the First Response Emergency Services when being called out to attend a Bariatric Client.

Modern lifestyle, the availability of food and lack of exercise all contribute to the problems they face. In this modern lifestyle we tend to drive everywhere complain if we don’t have a TV remote and have to get up off our comfy chairs to change channel and because of our wonderful technology there is a lack of…

The product that sells... but that we hope will never get used!

Imagine producing and selling thousands of products, none of which will ever see the light of day. Many will be in cupboards and on shelves, whilst others will be in place, ready to solve a huge potential problem but will never be needed. A few will be used for training purposes, but most will stay in their packaging. That is the scenario at one business that has grown steadily over the past few years and which is now looking to capitalise on some recent legislation while, at the same time, build a stronger product range for the future.

Think vacuums…
